  1. Objectives:
    That those attending the course could be able to:

    • Understand the role of key actors involved in the forest sector of Catalonia
    • Understand the development of forest planning and sylviculture in Catalonia as an example of Mediterranean region
    • To show effective examples of multifunctional forest management focused on wood and non-wood forest products
    • Understand the different levels of governance of forest in a pilot region (From region to a plot)
       
  2. Programme topics:
    1. Introduction. Keys of forest sector in Catalonia
    2. Field trip to Central Catalonia. Understand the role of fire as a driver of forest planning
    3. Field trip to the Pyrenees. Forest planning and Sylviculture in a mountainous regions. The point of view of the municipalities
    4. Field trip to the Mediterranean area of Girona, Barcelona and Tarragona. Non-wood forest products, the most profitable products in the Mediterranean region?

  3. Assessment:
    Course requirements include the presentation of a class summary (10%), a class project-presentation ton peer students (25%), grading in field participation accomplishment (25%) and a final exam (40%).
